The Girls.....

At French Nest we just love dress forms.  We buy them as often as we can find them.

The girls pictured above are some of our favorites!  Of course, they all have names.

Left to right they are as follows:

Claudette, Fifi, Denise and Simone.  We love to dress them up, put hats and jewelry on them and give them all new looks!

This is one of our new dress forms.  She's covered with an old flour sack and vintage lace.  We think she's a great addition to the French Nest family.  Her name is Charlene.  She's from Texas.

And last, but certainly not least, our latest addition is Giselle.  She's from Paris.....ooh la la!!

Stop by the shop and check out "the girls".

Until next time....

It's Been a Busy Week....

It's been a looooong week at French Nest working tirelessly on making room for new goodies that we've found.  We're finally about finished, so I thought you might like a little peek at what we've been up to.

The back room is where we have all our "girlie" things.

We also found out while moving the post office boxes that they are quite heavy, but best of all they make great bed side tables!  Who knew??

We created a little "bistro" area with these really cool chairs.

Found this chippy green table on one of my trips to North Carolina.  The paint is great!

We've also gotten in some of the neatest messenger bags.

One of my favorite new finds is the jar of marbles.  They are so colorful and just look like candy to me.  (I'm on a diet, so everything reminds me of candy!)

The amazing thing about this is that the jar is from a drug store that use to be one block from where French Nest is located now.

Got this beautiful wreath out at Renningers last weekend and just had to hang it on the willow headboard.  Lou out at Renningers sells them under the pavilion.

And the last little peek is of this great pair of bookends that we found.

There are a lot more treasures that we haven't pictured here, so come on in and check them out for yourself!

Until next time.....

Renningers Antique Fair

Renningers Antique Fairs are the third weekend of every month.  The summer months can be brutal, with the 90 degree + temperatures. Yet, the vendors bring their goods and the faithful treasure hunters come and scour the booths for that perfect something.  Here are some of the things that caught my eye as I wondered around.

So the next time the third weekend of the month rolls around and you feel like doing a little treasure hunting......come out to Renningers!

Until next time......

We Embrace Crust....

As do many of our fellow crust lovers, we search high and low for beautiful time worn items with just the right amount of that wonderful crusty patina.  We'd like to share a few pictures of some of our recent finds with you.

We are always searching for old books.  They have that perfect look, a little ragged, a little faded, but enough color to make them really stand out and make a statement.

Old frames with a few chips here and there make great looking blackboards with that aged and just right look.

Concrete and old plaster statutes are always perfect for adding a little crusty charm to any place you put them.  We love having them in the shop, just don't love having to move them around!

Bird's nests and hornet's nests, anything from nature, seem to always add so much and round out a really cool vignette.  They blend right in with the faded rusty stuff.

And then there are the elegant crusty finds, like this candelabra.  Beautiful alabaster with its well used candle cups.  This is one of my favorites!

Chippy furniture, architectural pieces, neat collections, old suitcases are all great pieces that we can never pass up.

If you are in the area, stop by and say hi.  We would love to meet you!

Until next time.....
